I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL with the 3.0L Vulcan V6 and the AXOD 4 speed auto w/ OD.
I bought a 1988 Mercury Sable Instrument Cluster in hopes of swapping out my old non-tach cluster, for the cool tach equipped cluster. After a few hours into it, when I was getting ready to put the electrical connections into the back of the cluster, I noticed that my connector wasn't going in.
I only have one electrical connection back there, when I needed two for that cluster to work. The one plug that does fit into one of the connections for the tach equipped cluster is on the other side and the wiring won't stretch. For the other connection, its wider and there is no connector that was dangling back there waiting to be plugged in.
Is there any way for me to wire up that cluster to make it work? Or would I have to get a whole new dash wiring harness?
I have also been told that I may have to get a new engine harness if I swap out the dash harness.
I know it sounds like a waste of time but I am just curious what options I have, if I have any.
