1989 ford f150 5 speed, need to know how to hot wire?

my truck broke down last night. i went to go home and the key turned and nothing happened. the battery came on and the lights on the dash but not crank or anything. then when i removed the key the lights and everything was still on. i ended up having to disconnect the battery to shut it down. now im faced with the challenges of moving it atleast to my apartment but i need to get home. i dont want to tow cause im in college and have no money. i figured it was the ignition switch and i could hot wire just dont know how. i need directions step by step so i dont hurt my self or my truck. any help is great. and any other suggestions to my problems are great. thank you very much
