1988 toyota sprint stereo sony replace?

i have a 1988 toyota sprint and im completely re doing the car. im fine w. engine work and body but when it comes to the stereo im lost. i bought a new sony stereo to install but when i took out the old radio there were about five wires from the car and like 8 or 9 from the stereo.. how do i know which ones to connect to eachother considering the colors dont match up? please help.. i already bought everything haha
