1988 ford t-bird ignition and door keys?

I was just wondering if anyone knew if the ignition key and door key was the same in that year of ford or that year of thunder bird. I lost the key to my car and instead of removing the ignition cylinder i wanted to just get the door key, re-keyed. Then i can just use that for the ignition. Thank you.
 
The older car keys came in pairs meaning 1 for the ignition and one for the doors and trunk. The keys came in hand when you are facilitating as emergency personnel. The car has lighting and needed to secure your vehicle.
