1988 Chevy c1500 blinking brake light?

The brake light on my chevy pickup blinks 3 times then stays on for a second, then repeats. Does anyone know what this means.
 
Yeah as punkmonk said look under "b" for blinking brake light in your owners manual........PLEASE!!!!!!

Sounds like a possible bad earth. Remove your brake light cover and bulb and check all wires and bulb housing for corrosion - clean with wet and dry paper spray a light spray of wd40 and reinstall.
