I'm fixing to move start about a 350 mile move and I have two vehicles, a 1988 chevy pickup, and a 1999 nissan altima. My plan is to get a u-haul trailer and load up the car and all my crap in the truck and haul everything down there with it. I've got it in good enough running condition to make it down there and I have only one concern: The rear springs I'm pretty sure are stock, the rear shocks I don't know, they've been on there since before I got it but I wouldn't be surprised if they were stock. The springs still have a pretty good arch to them and they feel fairly stiff still. The truck was never used for anything very taxing, it was used as a farm vehicle for a while, and pulled about 2500 pounds of tractor/trailer back and forth, but this was off and on, and probably didn't happen for more than 4 to 5 months. So my question is this, based on what you've read (and I can provide more info if needed) would you say that new springs are absolutely required, or that I could get by. Also, do you think some new shocks would give the rear end a little lift under a load.
Thanks in advance for any help.
