Car was fine until taken on highway, now it stinks of gas fumes outside of car but NOT inside - took it to mechanic and checked for leaks in fuel line but found none. Replaced fuel filter and fuel pump, still bad stench. What else could be causing this horrible stink?? By the way, doesn't stink more under hood, so I don't think the carb is the problem? But it smells the strongest underneath the car when I open the door. Please help!
