1987 yj jeep straight six starter keeps grinding on starting?

Flywheel in good shape a little worn does not appear warped starter teeth wear down tried shims no change still grinds on starting. starters rebuilt should I try a new one or would it not make a difference. Also have problem with carb needs rebuilt floats sticking wheres the best web sight for infomation and how to self fix older jeeps
