1987 jeep wont start but "check engine" light not on??? why?

ok my car wont start and i have already changed things i think it might be (ignition module, coil, distributor cap/rotor)

im not getting a spark from coil but my check engine light wont go on so i can run a self diagnostic on it. WHY WONT IT COME ON!!????

i need to know to change camshaft or crankshaft
