1987 Chevrolet Celebrity?

My car sat for a very long time and now I have to jump start the car with my truck and it will stay on but as soon as I push the brake pedal to slam the gear selector into reverse it shuts off. Plus the check engine lights and the battery voltage lights flicker on and off too.
 
once it starts let it idle for a bit and see if it dies. It could be the alternator, or bad gas. you might try and siphon the gas out and replace that. along with the oil and all filters. my mom had a celebrity and didn't have any issues with it.
