1986 mazda 323 fuel filter?

i cant seem to find it anywhere... its a used car so its possible that it was removed... and yes i did check behind the engine and underneath the car... i was looking for it in the first place because the car just start and sometimes it almost starts but doesnt seem to turn over... Thanks
