1985 Ford Tempo...I need help badly?

ok now, my temperamental tempo runs GREAT when cold...up until driving about 25 - 30 minutes. then the problems start. it will try to stall/lose power while driving even at highway speeds, almost feeling like it loses power for a split second.(but every 10 seconds or so) then it will stall at a light once i press the gas to accelerate, but starts right back up but will stall again when put in drive unless im on the brake and have the gas to the floor.
the longer that i keep restarting it the worse it gets, the ignition will gradually take longer and longer to turn it over and 2 days ago it was to the point(after driving it 30 minutes and restarting it several times) where it would start up just fine and i could rev it in park but would stumble, stutter and die no matter what i did when it was in drive(but i could drive it at idle speed). then several hours later, it was just fine again.

i'm going crazy because as anyone who knows about cars knows, i cant do a computer scan on a 1985 so shops tell me to just swap out parts..starting with the fuel pump. can the fuel pump only act up when heated?? i would think if it was faulty that it would always act up, not run like a champ when cold and then start screwing off. besides i can hear it humming when i start it up.

my uncle told me he had a very similar problem and that it was his Ignition Control Module. that's a easy fix but i dont want to throw away $40 if its not the problem. i've also been told it could be the ignition coil. these 2 would make more sense because it seems like when it tries to cut out its losing power, but why the stumbling and stuttering if its a electrical component?

it's been running great for the last 2 days, but i've only been taking it on short trips to the store. i don't want to completely damage whatever is going wrong

it has brand new plugs, caps, wires, belts, hoses, fuel filter, fuel lines, alternator, brakes and brake lines.

sorry for the long-winded rant but i am getting seriously annoyed, it runs like a champ...for 30 minutes at a time
