1984 Chevy Suburban Truck shakes real bad and transmission pops?

When i take off driving my truck it shifts from 1gear to 2gear fine but when it shifts from 3 to 4 my truck starts shakeing real bad. If I even bearly touch the gas the transmisson starts to pop. The only way for it to not start poping is to slam on the gas so it shifts down to a lower gear. I have a nice truck and I wish I could get this fixed. All in all, if have any info to whats wrong with it and the price to get it fixed it would be very appricated.
 
check the transmission fluid, if its low, top it off and try driving it, if the problem is still there, drain and flush the fluid, replace the filter and refill the fluid. If that doesnt fix it, youre looking at a hefty price to take it to a tranny shop. even if its just a solenoid theyll charge you at least 1200 dollars just because its an automatic and they had to tear it down. then theyll probably want to sell you new clutch packs and bands.
