I have a 81 gs550 suzuki.....starts great and will run good for about an hour...after that it starts surging until it stalls...have went through carbs and now I dont have a clue...HELP please

That's a common symptom of a defective coil.
Keep a working spark plug with you.
When the engine stops running - check for spark.
Remove a spark plug cap.
Insert the working spark plug into the plug cap.
Lay the threads of the spark plug against a metal part of the engine and try to start the engine.
Check all 4 spark plug caps.
If no spark, the problem is electrical and further testing is required.

I would suspect that it is something to do with the inlet manifold heating up and expanding, thus allowing air to be sucked into the inlet between the carb and the block. Do you still have the fibre heat sheild in place are all the O rings intact and are the gaskets all in order.
