1980 TOYOTA POWER STEERING PROBLEM.?

I just bought a 1980 toyota with a chevy 1990 4.3L engine swap. I need to know if there is any problem running the chevy power steering pump to the toyota steering box. I am having a problem with the system building up to much pressure. when you try toturn the steering wheel left or right, the wheel gets yanked out of your hands the opposit direction. then the steering box seal blew out were the steering bar connects. not sure if I just have a bad pump or box, or if the two don,t work together. thank you
