1979 Lincoln continental won't start. Help!!?

I have a 1979 Lincoln town coupe with the ever useless 400 ci v8. I tried to start it today after work and nothing. It didn't even crank. It can't be the battery because everything worked, and none of the lights were dim. Help please! I can't let this car go! Its really run down but its my only shot at owning one of these and I love it very much
