1977 chevy 454 with turbo 400 trany for sale i this a good price?

i kinda only want the trany and motor mostly the trany secondly the engine its 795 bucks............and im getting the set with a truck running or not is this a good deal? i luv muscle cars i dont mind much about the gas its not an every day driver
in the first add it was in it sez its a great running 454 everything works oil pressuer is 40 to 60 horn lights wipers everything works
 
I'd say not bad bad, but you have ask yourself, what kind of shape the engine and trans is really in. As far as the engine goes pull out the oil dipstick and feel the oil between you finger tip looking for whether it smooth or does it feel grainy. try to get a compression check of each cylinder and also see what kind of shape the coolant is in if it's rusty it may point to a lot corrosion internally and may have questionable internal coolant passage damage especially between the head and engine block. But, if you plan to rebuild the engine and the trans anyway, $795 is a not bad price. But remember a 32 year old engine and transmission is a 32 year old engine and transmission. Be really sure you want to take the chance. What about looking into a crate motor or one that has been refurbished by say someone like checkers or napa or some other engine rebuilding company? you may wind up paying just as much in overhauling this one as buying one.
