I have a 1976 Ford f250 with a 4 speed manual, 4:10 gears and a 360 engine. since it is geared as such, i top out at about 70 mph, i can hit 75 if i really push it. since i am such high rpm, my gas mileage sits at about 7-8mpg. I have been told that a two speed transmission between the tranny and the transfer case might work since it is old enough to have a split transfer case. I have also done a little bit of research on a two speed transfer case, giving me high and low range. What are my options and what are some trusted brands i could buy that would get me up to about 85 at least, and have me at a lower rpm when i hit 70? maybe i could get from my farm to school with a little less then a half a tank haha.... any help is appreciated
i don't wish to change gears or tranny, it has a bulletproof tranny and the rearend is a very expensive rearend, i was hoping i could either use a 2 speed tranny or a 2 speed transfer case
