1975 Suzuki GT185 bogging down badly?

I have a 1975 Suzuki GT185, and a few days ago it started acting up on me. I rode for maybe 15 minutes, then out of nowhere, it started bogging down on me. Now I can ride it for maybe 3 minutes, and it does the same thing. In order to keep the bike from stalling out, I have to keep the throttle twisted the whole way, and it stays alive at about 1500 RPM. Then without warning, it kicks back up as though nothing was ever wrong with it- leaving a big plume of that famous 2-stroke smoke behind me- most of which comes out of the right exhaust. I can then continue down the road for about a minute and it does the same exact thing.

I've already pulled the plugs and checked them- little dirty, cleaned them, did not fix it.

Cleaned air filter- did not fix it.

Another way I can describe it, is if you were to run out of gas. And that is where my head is at now- I am thinking that it isn't getting enough gas somehow.

If anybody could throw some ideas my way, I would greatly appreciate it.
