well im 17 and i was planing on geting a ram 2500 diesel or a chevy camaro but my dad was telling me about how his first car was a 1975 nova and he told me he would help me fix a nova up if i wanted one and i went and looked at them and i really like em so if i got one does anyone have some advice on wat motor i should put in it for good gas milage and good hp and tq and how much would it be to have done at a local shop

Man look u ain't gonna get a 1975 Nova that gets good gas mileage sorry but all Classic Muscle cars just don't get good gas mileage.

But i can help you with the engine.

First Choice : If u want good HP put a 350 Chevy Small Block ( V6 ) in it.

Second Choice : If u want really good HP then put 350 Chevy Big Block ( V8 )

Third Choice : But if u want real Horsepower & Torque then put a 454 ( V8 ) in it.

One more thing if i were u i'd look for another year cuz to tell u the truth th 75 Nova has no stile go for a 1969,1970,1971,1972 or 1973 it as alot more stile to it. BUT IT'S UR CHOICE MAN.

Are you looking into buying a 1975 Nova project car, and then put in a new engine? If you buy a Nova project car, it's likely to have more problems than just the engine. I'd try to find one that's in good mechanical condition and has a 6cyl engine for cheap, then drop in a strong running V-8. Try to find one with a nice body too so you'll avoid future problems.

As far as the engine, it really depends on your budget. A fuel injected LT-1 350 would be a good choice for performance and economy. Maybe you could pull a nice one out of a junkyard that just needs a minor rebuild. For simplicity/classic power, I'd go with a carbureted 350. A fuel injected 305 wouldn't be a bad choice either, but just for mild performance and good economy.

Hope that helps and good luck!

well if your dad is willing to help you fix it up then i think you should take it.. its a good first car if you rebuild it and take care of it. as for the engine i guess you can find one it will help you with gas mileage
