1973 Dodge D 100 that the speed thing doesnt work?

I have a 1973 dodge d 100 that a guy wants to trade his 1993 eldorado cadillac for. But I dont know if I am getting robbed on the deal. He seems kinds pushy and I cant get info on the net on this truck.. I know its an antique truck.. But Idont know what to do, It drives and works but I cant drive it because its so old I cant drive three gears, so it stalls, so I told my husband to sell it and get something I can drive incase my other car breaks down again..

Any help would greatly aprreated here!!
