1968 Pontiac Catalina black smoke?

i have a 1968 pontiac catalina sedan with the 400 cid 2bbl carb v8. recently, when i start it a puff of black smoke shoots out of the exhaust. but after that it is all colorless as should be. any ideas whats up?
 
nice car. my brother has a 70. sounds like the choke is sticking and making it flood itself. try adjusting the choke pull-off and the choke flap.
