I recently have been having problems with my mustang when i accelerate it eventually tries to stall out when i go faster than a certain point. I was thinking it could possibly be the carb or the fuel pump, Anyone with thoughts please share

It definitely sounds like a fuel problem - start with he simple things first - check the fuel lines for any kinks or visual restrictions and replace the fuel filter.
If the problem continues, check the fuel pressure at the carburetor (it should be a minimum of 4-5 psi). If the pressure's low, replace the fuel pump, if the pressure's OK, the carburetor is the next suspect - low float, restricted fuel passages, etc.....
