1956 Chrysler with push-button auto transmission.?

My stepfather bought a '56 Chrysler back in '56. I was 10 years old at the time, and if I remember correctly, this car had a 'push-button' (on left of steering wheel) transmission.

In setting around McDonald's every morning with a group of old geezers such as myself (drinking coffee, telling lies, spreading rumors, talking about people/relegion/politics, but definetly NOT gossiping), I mentioned the above transmission.

Several of the old far*s are telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about! Help me out with this, if you can!
 
Yes I remember the push button automatics. My parents had one, it was a Belvadere wagon. Don't remember the year but I think it was a '66.
