1950 Ford Overdrive transmission question?

I have a 50 Ford and need to know if the overdrive transmission found on many 50 V8's will fit on a six cylinder car. Does anyone know if this is possible, and what would need to be done? Thanks in advance.
 
A great question. If I remember correctly, it will. I would ask a mechanic before doing the work.
 
I believe that would work just fine. The neat thing about older cars is that their parts were a lot more interchangeable. Check for sure with an old Ford car club.
