In my coin book under 1941 mercury dime it says 1941 " double die obv..............what does this mean?

also what is the difference between ms-60, ms-63, and ms-65 ?

The double die means that the coin was struck twice obv means obverse or the "tails" side. ms is a grading designation meaning "mint state", coins of this type are also called "uncirculated" the higher the grade the better the coin, ms60 or above are very high quality coins.

The Red Book A guide to U.S. coins does not list a 1941 and neither does several other books. The obverse is the front of the coin, in the case of the Winged Liberty Head dime, it is her side. A doubled die is created when the die is made from the master hub. In order to get the image on the die, it must be done more than once, if the hub or die are off on the next squeeze it makes for a doubled image some where on the die. On some doubled dies it is very dramatic, on others one really has to look. The 1955 doubled die cent can be seen with the naked eye for the date is doubled. MS stands for the grade Mint State and that grade uses the numbers 60-70. MS-60 coin is at the low end and even though it has no wear it may have a dull finish or marks on it caused by it hitting other coins when dumped into bins at the mint. An MS-70 coin is perfect and there are the grades in between that have other problems that are not so bad but stop it from being perfect. It would take to much room here to list those grades and each coin series in different anyway. See a coin dealer for a grading guide. hope this helps.
