15w50 oil in 848

Ducati owners manual suggests that 848 owners use shell ultra 4 but mostly in the owners manual it suggest 15w-50, son why doeseveyone keeps suggesting 14w 40? i put mobil 1 fully synt. 15w-50 and it runs great.
 
Ducati has sent out a dealer bulletin saying to follow this guideline:

All Ducati dry clutch models use : 15W50 Full Synthetic

All Ducati wet clutch models use : 10W40 Full Synthetic
 
Just recently done an oil change and I purchased my oil from Ducati. Was given 15w50 Full synthetic and before that I asked for 10w40 but they told me that 15w50 is the standard oil. Works great on my bike.
 
I had the same question, when I did my first service the tech put in 15w50 motul 300v. He said that's they told him to use for the 848 when he when to Ducati tech training, but when I called Ducati North America they recommended 10w40 for wet clutch applications and the winner is...
 
This is correct information. Can you alter it a bit? Of course, but why bother? In most cases, if not all, the factory knows better than both the customer and the dealer.
 
billy...the factory is holding contracts with lots of suppliers etc including the brand...the most important thing in these days is to do oil and filter change just more frequecntly and keep track of it , with whatever make you choose from and youll be fine..
