14 year old, If I want to bike to lose weight, how long do you recommend I bike for?

Actually I'm 15.
My birthday was just last week and I'm still not used to calling myself 15. Sorry!!!! :)
14 year old male, 6'2, 180 lbs. I've got some man boobs and too much fat everywhere else and I want to get rid of it..by biking. How long do you recommend I bike for (distance or time), and how often? How quickly do you think I'll start seeing noticeable results?
(note..I'm also gradually improving my diet. So far I've cut out all fast food and soda. I'm also trying to control the size of my meals by cutting them in half and eating just the first half, waiting and drinking water to see if I'm still hungry. I drink a LOT of water.)

It depends on how fast you want to burn the calories. You can make the ride harder and bike less time but still burn more calories.

Try for a hundred or two hundred calories to start out with. If your doing it outside, then go for a few miles and slowly work yourself up to longer distances.

"In shape" isnt a goal, its a journey, so it doesnt end when you like the way you look. You need to keep doing it. Dont settle for a limit or a time frame, settle for your best, then go out tomorrow and try for a little bit further.

Keep drinking the water, eat primarily fruits and vegetables, and dont quit!

you should focus on your heart rate when you bike. there are specific zone that help burn fat for you approx. 140 bpm., however since biking dose'nt work on you upper body you might want to consider running, or swimming since they both engage your torso. for man boobs do some basic chest exercises like pull up. and push up's. or bench press with free weights this will tighten your chest and build muscle. muscle will burn fat 24 hrs. a day. also eat more, eating less will slow your metabolism. try for 6 small meals a day. try adding a protein shake for break fast or snack. also a protein bar as a snack. focus on lean meats and complex carbs like fruits and vegtables. avoid simple carbs like bread. eat at least 2000 healthy cal. s per day. and water helps lose bad fat, results will take about 3 weeks

Hey, as long as your pushin the pace and making sure your body is doing work, that's all that matters. If you only want to bike, then try to work up to a decent distance in about a month. maybe start with 5 miles, then increase speed....then the next week go to 7 miles....then increase speed at 7 miles....try working your why up to at least 14 miles....it'll be a breeze if you work at it! GOOD LUCK!

buy a bmx bike (it will keep you occypied and loose weight at the same time)

or get a gym membership and talk with personal trainers and they will be glad to help you out :]
