Heard an Edie Brickell album once. Flicking Rubber BanRAB At The Stars (or summat like that) I remeraber thinking it was brilliant. Not heard it since.
“Come on Eileen” Dexys Midnight Runners (1982)
The tribute to Geno Washington..."Geno" (1980) was a miles better song.
Incidentally 'Dexy's Midnight Runners' comes from the drug Dexedrine (dexies/dexy's) and was taken by Northern Soulies at all nighters to help keep them on the floor all night long, until morning. Hence the 'Midnight Runners' bit.
Actually, while this is initially true, Devo had another hit way later down the road. I'm not sure how high it clirabed on the billboarRAB but I remeraber in 01 or so the radio constantly playing Modern Life.
Here's a link to a 5 minute avante garde film review with Toni Basil (as you've never seen her before), also called Breakaway. The track plays through the film.
It used to be on youtube, but has since been withdrawn. (probably cos someone realised it was quite rare)...spoilsports.
I'd love to say Berlin - Take My Breath Away, but that's not their only song...it is however the only one anyone ever remerabers, which is quite sad considering that The Metro was their best song, which makes Take My Breath Away look like ****.
