1198 or 848?

Thanks for the input from each of you. I'm leaning more towards the 848. I was able to hear the 1198 and the sound was a little much for me. I live in Hawaii and 60% of my riding will be in traffic. I'm new to Ducati... any recomendtions to good accessories online stores/websites?
 
I was going for the 848 as it was more than enough bike for my needs . In the end, at the dealers and at the last minute I went for the 1198S. My heart told me I would always lust after it and would go for it one day anyway so might as well just do it . I just look at that baby and my heart beats faster - right call for me - go with your heart you won't regret it
 
I'm trying to find a group of local Ducati riders here in Hawaii so I can hear the difference in the two. I don't want to get the 848 wishing I had the 1198 especially when the price difference isn't a factor. Does the engine sound of the 1198 only occur when the bike is in neutral?
 
Are you referring to the clutch sound? The 848 has a wet clutch and the 1198 a dry. The 1198 clutch does make more noise when in neutral with the lever opened. I not sure on the engine sound though. I haven't compared my 1198s to one......
 
I hate it when people make this comment, you can even say pro AMA riders are not riding the bikes to their fullest limits. What a worthless contribution.

848 is great on the road and track. The 1198 is a little too big of a bike for everyday street riding IMO.
 
Thanks each of you for the inputs. I ran into someone selling a 2009 848 with 1940 miles on it. He has the 72 months extended warranty and the 72 months wheel and tire warranty. He's asking $13,000 OBO for the bike, extended warranties, Suomy Gambler Helmet and a Alpinestar mesh jacket. Like I previous mentioned this will be my first Ducati.... does this deal sound good?
 
If U're Not Gonna Go With The Open Clutch Cover On The 1198 Then The Sound Is Not That Bad ( Keep It Stock)..it's Really Lound If U're Using An Open Clutch Cover...i Was Gonna Get The White 848 But I Ended Up With The White 1198
