103 remap on stock 96

Yes, everything is stock except the A/C and the map. You mention stage 1 map for the 103 here. Is that the stock map or one stage away from stock such as what would be necessary for a 103 with SE stage 1 A/C and aftermarket exhaust? I'm not sure which one they actually downloaded to my bike, the tech just said that it was "the 103 map". For what it cost to have it done, I'm hoping I don't have to have it undone in order to use a tuner. I plan on switching to the V&H power duals w/Monster Ovals as my next mod. Hopefully that will get me what I'm looking for.
P.S. I forgot to mention - with the current setup there is absolutely no soot in the end of the tailpipes and the Indy who did my 5k service checked spark plug condition and compression and said plugs looked ideal and perfect compression.

+1 on FuelMoto!!
Give them a call, talk to their technicians, explain what you want to do now and in the future. They are good people.

Thank you for your service.

When I bought my 09 FLHT, I had the dealer flash the 96" stage 1 download for my SE intake/V&H slip-on equipped bike and it ran fine. Added a V&H fuel pak with settings for ECU flash and it ran fine. I removed the fuel pak, sold it and ran it for about 1 week back in flash mode and I couldn't tell any difference. I bought a SEPST and had it flashed with standard stage 1 flash and it ran a tad better as it feels a bit cooler, no decel popping but a few mpg less. If you pay the $$ for the stage 1 flash, don't spend any more $$ on a Fuel Pak. Like others said, take that $150 and apply it towards a PCV/TTS/SEPST and you'll have a unit that will do anything you need for future upgrades....

The Stage 1 version (AC and slipons). The 103 Stage 2 is actually just a bump in fuel from that, too. The HD Stage # maps just up the rev limiter, change the timing a little (same rev limit and timing in all of the street legal ones past the stock base calibration) and then progressively add more fuel as the displacement and stage # go up.

I agree with MOST of what you say here with one exception...If you do the Stage I download and later need the map change you can do so...As long as you used the SERT and still have the "box"..I speak from experience...As you know the SERT is married to the VIN number of the bike but the tech can certainly go in and change the ecm without anything issue what so ever...well maybe more moneey!!!

What I am understanding is that the dealership just flashed the download to the bike without a SERT, what most of us are saying is the by a SERT PCV or other tuner and use that for the flash. The dealership flash $150, the tuner would be more but the $150 oculd be used to that instead of $150 each time you make changes to the bike.

Dealer told me they cannot access the ecm without using something like the SERT..Then they proceed to tell me how never use the "in line products" that lie to the engine after receiving the ecm information..The cost of the SERT is fairly high too...They warned me if I lost the SERT box that i would have to purchase a whole new setup and start over if i ever wanted to change the ecm tuning...Go figure!!!

What you dealer told you is wrong. The dealer can flash things to the ecm without a SERT, it just makes it cheaper in the long run for you, if you make more changes. They were right about holding onto the SERT dont lose that.

That is correct, no SERT. And to update all on the actual map, I dug and found the receipt and it says "1690 Stage 1 Legal USA". So maybe if I get a tuner I won't have to undo what they did for a tuner to work properly. Keep the info coming though if there are any others who have experience with running this map and various accessories it would be helpful info. I just don't plan to consider any internal engine work if possible.

Since they already flashed your ecm, if it runs ok and you dont plan on making any other changes then I wouldnt worry about buying anything. I thought you were considering doing the flash. As to how good the map works I am not sure on your bike, I am a proponent of having a tune done instead of a base map, but if you are happy with how it works then I wouldnt worry about spending any more money now. If you do more work in the future bout a tuner.
