$100 deposit? Any ways to get around this?

I want to upgrade my box, but would rather NOT put out the $100 for a deposit that Bell wants.

The people I spoke to today basically said "well, if you don't want to do it, that's fine - If you want to change to shaw, I'll happily terminate your service on August 3rd"

grr.

I just don't want to be out the money, and would prefer to get a deal for the upgrade - I don't want to move to shaw or *choice just because this is what I'm used to and my credit doesn't live up to the $600 Shaw HD box (darned home improvement costs!)

Anyway - thoughts? Anyone there I can speak to that might make it so, "so to speak"? :)

Thanks in advance.

Nick

You get the deposit back, so it isn't that big a deal. I got mine on the very next bill.

There is no way to get around that if you decide to rent it...

100$ charged on your credit card, credited on your first EV bill (not on the CC) bill after you activated the receiver

Even clients that obtain their receiver throught a retention offer have to pay that deposit

The 100$ can not be put on your EV bill

Tha charge gets on your CC bill today...
It would take a few days, even week before you receive your CC bill
In the meantime EV comes and install your new machine
Your next EV bill arrives, but ince they added the 100$ refund it's showing in credit
The money that you had plan to use to pay your EV bill therefore goes to pay your CC bill and you enjoy nice HD TV

That's what I figured. Ah well, I'll wait until I have the cash for it, which'll be in a few weeks (that's the problem)

Here's hoping eBay auctions go through soon!

I had my $100 deposit charged to my Bell Canada account and then $100 refund on my Bell ExpressVu account.

I have OneBill, so in the end I didn't notice a difference!

i never paid a deposit. Bought all recievers and installed myself.

Got programming credits each time i renewed or upgraded.

That was only possible for NEW CLIENTS, not when adding a receiver to an existing account
Things might have changed taught...I left Express Vu close to a year ago

That means Bell fibally listened to their clients and did what they requested...

Thumbs up for Bell!!!

the only way they will charge it somewhere else is if you have another service of theirs. Mobile/home phone or internet.

So not with the working for me.

There may be another option for you. I know as recently as May Shaw was doing their satellite winback promotion. All they ask for is a satellite receiver, a copy of your current bill, the card in the receiver, and a remote. In return they give you a refurbished HDPVR.

It might solve your problem, you get a free month to try Shaw anyways, and if you don't like it you can cancel and still keep the Shaw receiver.

At least its free to try.
