10 Points: My Jeep is broken! Description to follow. What could be wrong?

I was coming home from about a 25 minute trip, and I stopped at a stop light. My car starting shaking and making a very bad noise. I panicked and drove into the nearest parking lot. As I drove, it was still shaking. When I stopped and put it in park, it was shaking even harder. I turned it off and turned it back on again. I let it sit there overnight (my dad owns the building of the parking lot and it has cameras) and the next morning I went back. The check engine light had come on, and when I turned the car on it was still shaking and then it turned itself off.

I really love my jeep, she's a 2002 liberty with about 140,000 miles on her. She's going to the shop tomorrow, but I want to know what's wrong and about how much it will cost to fix her.

by fuel problems, do you mean bad gas?
 
Sounds like you have something wrong in the valve train. My husband knows cars very well and he said it could be at least 10 different things wrong. But take it to a mechanic that you trust and get everything in writing and whatever they take off your jeep tell them you want the old parts! Good luck
