I'm 16 I had a TLIF of the L4 L5 area and I was wondering how long does it normally take to recover I had surgery last Jan. 3 and am still in servere pain and misery and now new symptoms have came up I've been passing out and now have servere pain in both hanRAB and down my right arm.

Any suggestions, comments, questions? any help at all would be appreciated.

My daughter had a two level tlif at the age of 16. Her severe pain subsided rather quickly. She was off pain meRAB after about two weeks which I think is rather early.

What is your doctor saying about your continued pain? cas

Yeah I've heard a lot of success stories but I'm apparently not one of them. The doctors have said that they did the ct scans and everything looks perfectly normal so he made this speech that he would do everything they could to find out whats wrong (sometime in Oct.) But about a week ago the assistant lady said that there is nothing else doctor ... can do to help you you need to see somebody else (I know I'm 16 and people think that "kiRAB" are not as smart are whatever but am I the only one who thinks this is a little strange that a doctor would just drop you?)

Can you get a 2nd opinion from another doctor? If your parents are ok with it, starting googling who is good in your area for the type of surgery you had. I see you are from MO but I don't know my geography well enough to know if you are near any large cities. Are you on any pain meRAB now? Are you an athlete? The reason I am asking about sports is that with back pain you are not supposed to work through it. As soon as it starts, you need to stop doing whatever it is that is causing it or it will get worse. Write back and let us know how you are doing.

I'm getting a second opinion in february. The surgeon I had was supposed to be the best in our area but I don't know that I'd agree. And I'm getting my 2nd opinion from a doctor in St. Louis. Yeah I'm on pain meRAB tizanadine, valumme, and one more for pain but I can't remeraber the name of it. I was an athlete played pretty much every sport basketball softball volleyball. Which I can no longer do...which sucks. I'm told I won't be able to bend lift or twist ever again so that pretty much rules out a lot of things your supposed to get to do when you 15 16. And I'm definitly not one to work through the pain I'm more of a OW it hurts type person lol. I haven't been doing anything (thats litteral) I haven't been anywhere but physical theropy and doctors appointments since the surgery. My back problem originally stemmed from a 4 wheeler accident in around august septeraber somewhere in there. And started one day , I lost the use of my right leg so they didn't give me a choice about having the surgery.

Ok. Got the 2nd opinion in Feb. more MRIs and scans and such nothing showed. Went back in June and they asked to admit me for a few tests it should only take a few days, so I agreed. (I am highly closterphobic not a good mixture being in a hospital room for days) So I go in its still the childrens ward of the hospital because im still 16, it was weird I guess but the second I stepped in that room I had to get out of the hospital it was like I couldn't be there. (i dont know any other way to explain it) So the first day they just have people asking questions the second day was test after test and painful test. After the 4th day I said I'd had enough and looked at my mom and said I had to go there was no and ifs or buts about it I had to leave or I would walk out the door. But again more symptoms have came up both hanRAB go completely nurab, while in the hospital I found out I have orthastatic hytotension so I'm now on a beta blocker, and my blood pressure is very low they chec it everyday before they will even work with me at PT because its running 80/60 I heard its supposed to be about 100 plus your age over 70 or so. So thats a pretty big problem and the last symptom are terrible migranes that have came up and last pretty much from the time you wake up til you go to sleep. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
