1.when the author describes a face " like bone", what feeling are suggested?

please answer the question according to this paragraph
Her face was white and sharp and slightly gleaming in the candleligh, like bone. No hint of pink. And the hair. So fine , so pale, so much, crimped by its plaiting into springy zizag tresses, clouding neck and shoulder, shining metallic in the candlelight, catching a hint, there it was, of green again, from the reflection of a large glazed cache-pot containing a vigorious sword-leafed fern.

just my interpretation
 
It means her features are gaunt, she is pale and seemingly lifeless (no pink in her cheeks which signals blood flow) and her hair clouding around her neck and shoulders means it's either frizzy or elegant and volumous.
