i has L5-S1 fusion, laminectomy and instrumentation.

got in a little fender bender today, no damage to my car, but it did feel like a jolt. My back was hurting afterward, but I really cant tell if it hurts any more than usual

anyone know if something like that can do damage?

I think the best thing to do is call your surgeon and let them know what happened and how you feel. Your spine should be stable but you want to make sure to keep it that way.

Yes, a small accident can do damage. the energy is transferred into your body because you do move around, even with a seat belt. It isn't just movement in the area of your spine that got operated on, but any movement anywhere...it's all connected.

If you did not file a report with the police, I am not sure what your options are. Insurance gets really sticky. But, I agree with the other post that you do want to let your doctor know. Then they can watch for things that they might not be watching for with "normal" recovery.

Best of luck

I agree call your surgeon just to be on the safe side.
I had an accident where i backed in to someone and i did call but the message was never given to the dr but luckily it was all ok when i did go.
