My grandmother had blood in her urine and it turned out that she has two tumours on her bladder. She had a biopsy today and will get the results in two weeks.

in the course of looking for trace blood in your urine, they also look for trace protien in it too,how was that, okay? do you have all copies of all lab results in your possession? if not,get them and keep track of your own labs and other medical records. its just good thing to do. have they ever actually looked at your kidneys with even an ultrasoud just to actually 'see' what they look like in there? believe me, what labs state about any given organ can be a totally different picture than what any type of scan can show. i have had perfect labs all my life despite actually having an undiagnosed and unknown to me,kidney and liver disease all my life. i found out i actually had this when my son, then age 12, actually was found to be in almost total liver failure from an inherited type of kidney disease that mutated a gene in him and created a huge bigger problem in him than me. but even now, despite really really huge changes in my kidneys as far as size and cystic development, my labs are all still within the normal ranges. the thing about labs is they wont actually show any real solid changes til the actual damage to any given organ reaches some specific threshhold of real damage that finally affects functions, then and only then do you see a difference in the lab numbers.

since you really have nothing yet to go on here except trace blood in your urine,at this point you really do need some level of actual scan just to see what those kidneys really look like. an ultrasound would give a good picture of just that, along with looking at just how well the blood flow is and if everything like the ureters are actually all clear. they use the doppler tool on the ultrasound for that. but i really would ask your doc about really 'looking' at your kidneys right now since nothing else seems to show what is really causing this in you. trust me,you just don;t know what is really going on in anyones body with any given organ til you get that really good look at it with some type of scan. the scan would just be the very best next step at trying to find the reason at this point. just speak with your doc or this specialist you are going to be seeing. just what type of specialist is this anyways? a nephrologist i hope? please keep me posted on what you find out,K? good luck to you, FB
