Took a trip to Charleston a couple of weekends ago, ( not a very biker friendly place). Anyway that's not the issue. Got down there ok but on the way back throttle goes away. pulled over shut of switch and ignition, waited a few minutes and started it back up and had throttle again. Rode another twenty miles or so and it happened again but this time I could not get back the throttle. Still had a hundred miles or so to go and opted to call up and have a friend of mine come and get me with the trailer. I knew that I could have limped home at about ten or fifteen miles an hour but with the wife on the back the trailer was the better option.
Took it the dealer the next day, told them what happened. They called me back in a few days and told me it was ready. Said the problem was that two wires were broken next to where it plugs in to the fuel module. the fix, spliced the wires, replaced two pins in the connector and wrapped it with electric tape. It all works fine now, so far no problems. The only thing is I asked the dealer about the way the wire was fixed...wrapped in electric tape....no shrink wrap don't like the way it looks. asked if it was possible to replace the harness but service manager said Harley recommended fixing it like they did. Was wondering if anyone had a similar issue.
