08 baja extreme 300 "suzuki" quad question?

i got my quad running the other day but barely i have to use starting fluid to get it started and i have to stay on the gas so it don't die on me. It has been siting out in the weather all winter i know this could be the cause of this i'm Pretty sure i have ran all the bad gas through it already what should i check first carb spark plugs or what? i really want to keep this thing going good my dad gave it to me the Christmas before he died thanks anyone who helps
 
Clean the carburetor.
Gasoline should be treated with stabilizer before storing your machine for the winter.
The gas left in the carb, dries out and gums up the jets.
