07 Streetglide won't idle after installing fuel tank

I had my fuel tank off for fixing a scratch in the paint. Now that I have iot back on, the bike won't idle. I searched and could not find anyone else posting an issue like this.

I know I have 1 gallon or less in the tank as the fuel light is on. I have checked all connections and fuses and everything is hooked up properly. Any other ideas? The bike ran fine before I pulled the tank off, so I'd be surprised if the fule pump or something had issues. I can hear the fuel pump kick on when I turn it to start.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I pulled the plugs and they smelled like gas so I think it actually was flooded. I also put more gas in the tank, I think I'll add new plugs tonight and see where that gets me.

One more thing, I had taken the quick disconnect fuel line fitting off the tank but left the hose attached inside the tank while the paint work was completed - any chance this caused issues?

Yes it has 2, 1 for overflow and 1 that connects to nothing on top of the tank. I will re-check them tonight, but they don't appear to be kinked or plugged. I also ran some weedeater line through them last night to ensure they weren't plugged.

Thanks!

I would highly suggest taking fuel pump ring off tank, then pull pump assy. up about a inch. Take flashlight and key ignition with run switch on. If you see fuel spraying out anywhere but the return fuel hose, than you have a leak. On 07's the filter would crack and cause your condition.

I appreciate all the responses, this forum is the best.

I drained the tank again and took it off, I took off the bottom quick disconnect valve and noticed the return hose was twisted. I straightened it out and also took off the top cap as the previous post suggested to ensure there were no leaks and that the hose was not twisted on the top side.

I put it all back together and put some gas in. It fired right up. I'll chalk this one up to "stupid human tricks" on my part in putting the quick disconnect back in the first time :-).
