OK guys, this AM we got on the bike and it would not run again as I stated in my above post. Start and die, no idle. I was ready to keep heading to FL (home) and half mile down the road, a Harley dealer, Worth HD of Kansas City was open today, Monday Aug 30. So I pulled in and guess what? The guy starts it to pull it into the shop and it runs like it should. So I tell them all the details of all the symptoms and they hook it to the computer or whatever it is and it is all just fine. Then they say probably a fuel filter. So I tell them about the TT410. The mechanic prints it off and reads it and says, well your bike is in the right parameters, lets check the fuel filter. So he pulls it off, it seems ok but maybe some restriction, and I say okay change it. They change it, I walk out to start it with my wife on back and it acts up, starts and dies. I tell her, run in and get the mechanic, I am afraid to get off it or it will start right up.......lol....he comes out and sure enough it won't idle for him. He gets it on the computer and guess what? It needs that Idle Motor. After I had paid them 158 bucks for the fuel filter!!!! Now they change that idle motor and it was 106 bucks. So far I have spent 158 bucks in Rapid City, SD at the Harley Dealer and 208 bucks at Worth HD so 366 bucks total, and now it runs.
I have extended warranty and so at Worth it was only a 50 savings because the fuel filter is not warranty item. Well I will write it all up to send to HD warranty when I get home. Now I am in a hotel in St. Louis writing this and the bike ran good to here. Still seems to pop some on deceleration but now I have a lot (LOT) more power as it was sluggish up hills before, now it runs much better. Tomorrow all day riding will be the test.
Whoever said it was their idle motor in an earlier post was right on and I told them about your post before they fixed mine. :
Thanks guys, will update you tomorrow. I almost traded it in but knew I was too frustrated with it and I saw a lot of brand new bikes in the shop.
