I was really low on gas and didn't think I would make it to a gas station so my boyfriend and I put gas from a gas can from his backyard into my car. 5 gallons.
Right after my car was jerking when trying to accelerate from a red light. Then about an hour later my malfunction light came on. I drove it auto zone and it came back EGR Valve.
Then I drove to my boyfriends house and once I went to get back in the car to leave with him it wouldn't start..
I was told to put good gas in there. So I put 5 gallons along with some fuel injection cleaner...
Still wouldn't start...
I had someone who looked at it today because his code thing said EGR flow bad.. But he took out the valve and said it wasn't even that dirty...
I listened for the humming of my fuel pump. I hear it humming.
The guy said whatever is supposed to fire is firing.
What could be the problem I dont want to go waste my money just trying to fix random things...
Could it be that that gas can was mostly water so my car isn't getting enough fuel when its trying to start?
Should I have my gas tank drained and cleaned first to see if that helps?
The guy at Auto Zone said you cant change the fuel filter on my car
