06 Chevy Cobalt factory stereo not working properly?

I have the factory stereo still in my car and today I went out and I had no sound and the volume knob and tuner knob didn't work but the steering wheel controls worked. Then later I went back to the car and it had sound but knobs still not working steering wheel controls still work .Can anyone help me out
