bought a 05 ford focus with a 2 liter motor. i found out it has a non serviceable air filter. ford service told me there is an air filter along with a couple of other components in a sealed box and it shouldnt have to be replaced for 100000 miles unless the indicator on the side of the box shows otherwise. the cost to replace this box is $480 plus tax and installation. can you belive this. k&n has a airintake system for this car for $150 less. the ford mecanic told me not to do this because it would screw up my emissions and will not pass. anybody familliar with this? is there a lower cost solution for this other than fords black box?
