Has anyone run into a Ford Freestar with a 4.2 with a water pump where the impeller has come lose?
It'll randomly make a small chirping noise from the water pump area, I've even had a stethoscope on it. The van does not overheat, the water pump pulley has a TINY bit of play in it. All other bearings/pulleys in the belt drive are good. Of course, if the water pump leaked it'd be an easy call, but, it is dry as a bone.
Has anyone else run into these with water pump impeller problems? If so, it'll help confirm my thoughts.
Yeah, should have mentioned, factored out the belt squeal, sprayed it with a penetrating oil. The belt was cracked anyway, so it has been replaced.
