I got a 04 Chevy 3500 and just hit 167K Miles. Over the last month I have been getting an increased amount or stronger scent of exhaust. Im not losing any coolant or there is no moisture or a "sweet" scent coming out the back so I don't think it could be a head gasket. I don't know a whole lot about engines but all I can kinda narrow it down to a fuel injector problem, a air/fuel combustion problem or maybe something in the programming of the fuel pump where Im getting to much fuel. My MPGs dropped about 3. I have changed the fuel and air filter. Any other ideas???
I was thinking about the change in the season. and all the rain we been getting here in Texas the last month. When I changed the fuel filter I didnt notice any water. Oil was changed 4K miles ago. I normaly do it between 7-8.
I havent been able to find anything on the topic. I find it strange that the AC coil is right over the fuel filter and sometimes when I run the truck a long time that area "frezzes" over then melts right on the fuel filter.
I have not changed the airflow.
