03 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 shift problem?

I have a o3 grand cherokee with 53.000 miles my 4 wheel drive works fine when i shift it in but when i move the shifter back to 2H it stays in 4 h it takes several tries to get it back to 2h the light goes out but 4h stays in,it has the select-trac,i would be grateful for any help,thank you very much for your help, hoot
