couple weeks ago i start to hear some noise almost like a whistle coming from my steering wheel. when i start rotating the wheels the noise was no more present but when in stand by there was a whistle sound.. couple days later i saw some air bubbles in the steering wheel resorvoir and the next day it started to leak. i take it to the mechanic and they flush the steering fluid and also replaced the high pressure hose. the whistle noise kept coming.
they also mentioned that the steering fluid hose was around 200 degrees which seems weird to them they said it shouldnt be that hot.
i was told that a piece of metal in the system could cause a slow flow and thats why the fluid gets hot. also that little metal might cause a slow flow and thats why my steering wheel was very heavy.
i kept driving my car for 3 weeks with the whistle noise..
today my steering fluid started to give me the signs for air bubbles. a funny sound.. i pulled over open the hood and saw the air bubles in my resorvoir. it is going to leak tomorrow or the day after for sure.
i was also told the first when i went to the mechanic that the sound was coming somewhere behind the firewall where the pedals are located. i was also told that i might end up replacing the whole steering system..
i feel like i have a flat tire but they are asking me to get brand new tires and rims..
what i am thinking is whatever that whistle sound obviously lets the air into the system which we couldnt spot. i dont believe that the whole steering wheel system needs to be replaced.
its a 03 honda accord coupe V6 3.0 with 96500 miles,
any suggestions or ideas..?
thanks
