I have taken the car to two different mechanics who say they can't find any major problems and the starter, battery, and alternator work fine, no leaks.
I have been stranded 3 times now. The jeep is being so weird. It all started when my left front headlight went out and i took it to get fixed. The minute i started it to drive off the mechanics lot it started up funnier like it took longer to start. It still worked for a week or so then i went to go drive and i would turn the key [nothing would happen no clicking or anything a little bit of a rumble that sounded like it was coming from the very back of the jeep.] I turn the key and try and try and nothing happens. A couple times when it won't start a friend has jiggled the Park, Drive, Reverse shifter and then it starts back up. Once we tried to start it up five times in a row and it would only start each time we jiggled the shifter. I just got it back from the mechanic the third time and he said he adjusted something but he says he can't get to the neutral safety switch or something cuz its located in the transmission in my model of car. And the bad part is that the car will never not start when its at the mechanics so they can't diagnose the problem. And as soon as i got it back today it did it once at the most inconvenient time. I don't know what to do next. I have replaced battery cables, and that didn't fix it. It starts sometimes but its unreliable and i really wanna get it fixed when its summer and the weather is nice. If there is a mechanic out there should i take it to a specific transmission guy? Does it sound like a transmission problem? Should i go to a jeep dealership even though i didn't buy it from one. I don't really have anyone that can fix it and I don't know much about cars. Is it possible that when the guy put in the new headlight he messed up a wire? Is it bad for your car to take the transmission apart to replace the neutral safety switch if thats it?
