02 chevy cavalier check engine light wont go out.replaced coolant sensor,and...

...fan motor. What else could it be? I ran into a snowbank, and got a bunch of snow and ice stuck into the radiator fan, and I continued driving without thinking about the fan being clogged. The next day, the traction light goes off, then the check engine light. I got a diagnostic, and it said the fan sensor was the problem. I got underneath it, and realized the coolant fan was stuck, then I removed the ice then I replaced the fan motor and the coolant sensor. And it still has the check engine light on. I tried unhooking the battery, to reset the computer, and the light is still on. Help!!

Most of the time you can simply unhook the pos battery cable for 10 min an then reconnect it and it will go out

it could be your an oxygen sensor, they could het hit and knocked out of whack especially if ou hit hard enough to knock stuff up that bad. as for reseting the computer, turn the key to on, but dont start the car, and pump the gas 3 or 4 times until the light blinks and goes off

I heard that you sometimes have to go to a chevy dealership and get them to reset the computer or turn off the check engine light, they might do it for free, but am not sure about it. Good luck!

Check to make sure the wires have not been knocked off of the 02 sensor on the exhaust manifold.

I had this same problem with a Suzuki Sidekick and since the trouble was intermittent tripping the ''reset'' switch put the light out.

I believe most cars with an Engine Control Module will have a ''reset switch'' somewhere. I have several of these Suzuki Sidekicks/Trackers and the reset switch is just inside the dash by the left front speaker.

With a good factory manual in hand (money well spent) you can ground the diagnostic link to get the dash ''check engine'' lite to blink out trouble codes.....saves a lot of time and $$ knowing just what is or isn't working properly.
